Joana is an experienced architect and certified general contractor with over a decade of experience in the field of design and construction of industrial structures. She is a current doctoral candidate at the University of Florida focused on community planning, which is why she serves passionately on the Downtown Development Review Board.

Joana is a University of Florida graduate with a masters from the College of Design Construction and Planning. Born and raised in the Bahamas, she is one of six children, five of whom are settled in the state of Florida. After graduating from UF, she settled in Jacksonville where she and her husband raise their three children. Joana serves on multiple boards, including the DBIA Florida board where she works to advance the practice of design build and to elevate architects and engineers.
